The Blockchain Research Institute Africa (BRI Africa) is an African think-tank launched by Standard Bank Group in partnership with the Blockchain Research Institute. They bring together Africa’s top industry leaders, academics, policy-makers, entrepreneurs and researchers to undertake ground-breaking research on blockchain technology and to bridge the gap between the technological functionality of blockchain and the real market need.

Silicon Cape + CAPE TOWN/STOCKHOLM CONNECT (CSC)
Silicon Cape is an NPO and an ecosystem enabler for tech-enabled startups in the broader Cape Region of South Africa. They work to connect stakeholders, curate ecosystem data, amplify the stories coming out of the ecosystem and advocate on behalf of stakeholders through their membership programme.
CSC is a platform that bring together companies, developers, customers, investors, entrepreneurs, and institutions from across South Africa and Sweden via a series of activities. It also serves as a meeting point and provide participants with well-organised matchmaking opportunities and company visits while also supporting individual requests.
Other projects include Safety Tech, Screen Tech, and Hackathons.

The Global Startup Awards (GSA) is the world’s largest independent startup ecosystem competition with a mission to recognise and connect the future-shapers of the digital age from all around the globe. Having started in the Nordics in 2012, the Awards expanded in 2021 to include all 55 African member states in the global network. Now, Africa’s innovation community has access to new markets, funding and a global network of investors and innovation ecosystems. GSA Africa scouts all 55 countries across multiple categories to expose the digital future-shapers of the 2020s. There are 12 categories in GSA Africa, six of which have been specifically developed for the continent – AgriTech, HealthTech, CommerceTech, IndustrialTech, ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) Tech, as well as Women in Tech. These have been created to address both the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The Global Alliance Africa project is a six-year project funded by UK Aid through Innovate UK (GCRF) and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Four project-level interventions were piloted in 2021 in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa with one of the interventions focused on Open Innovation.

NOOSi Health is a Cape Town-based, fully female-founded, managed, and led HealthTech startup focused on bringing highly skilled nursing to the home through easy-to-use tech. NOOSi (which means 'nurse' in Yoruba) is a digital platform that connects verified professional nurses with customers who need home healthcare in real-time, either virtually or in person. The company matches health needs and nursing service providers via an easy, personalised, and secure online process that spans booking to payment. By applying human-centred design, they put digital power into the hands of nurses and customers so that they can find each other and build a trusting relationship.
